Three things have to be true. The destination has to match the earlier trip's — capital letters, extra spaces and accents do not matter, but "Tokyo" will not find a trip you filed under "Japan". The earlier trip has to be over; a trip you have not taken yet gives no advice. And the places on it need a verdict: only the ones you marked Loved it or Fine are offered.
In the new trip's Ideas, not on a day. They arrive with the name, the kind of thing, the city and the note you wrote last time — and without the tick, the verdict or the old date. Swipe one onto a day when you decide when you are going.
That is deliberate. Repeat visits merge into one entry, keeping the best thing you ever said about it — somewhere you loved in 2024 and had a mediocre lunch at in 2026 is still somewhere you loved. Between two equal verdicts it keeps the more recent visit, and between two of those it keeps whichever one you actually wrote a note on. Both trips still show the place individually if you open them.
Yes — the Been tab has a Not worth it filter. They are kept out of the recommendations on purpose, because a list of good places with a dud in the middle is worse than no list.
It went back to Ideas. When you shorten a trip, anything scheduled on a day that no longer exists is moved rather than deleted — the plan for that day is lost, the place is not. Put it on a new day whenever you like.
Because a plan made six weeks out is "the fish market in the morning", not "05:40". Exact times change, and a time you have to keep correcting is a time you stop trusting. Put the real one in the notes, where being wrong costs nothing.
More than four things on one day. It is advisory only — the app will never refuse a plan — but it is worth seeing before you are standing in Kyoto at 4pm with three temples left.
That is what Ideas is for. Most trips get planned as a pile of suggestions first and a schedule second, and an app that demands a date up front makes you decide before you know enough to decide.
Tap the circle on the left of the row. Tapping a verdict on the place itself also marks it done, because nobody says "loved it" about somewhere they skipped.
Tap the same one again to clear it. It is the only thing in the app you can un-say, on the grounds that a mis-tap that sticks for three years is worse than a bit of ambiguity.
Entirely. Postcard never uses the network, so a foreign SIM, aeroplane mode or a mountain with no coverage makes no difference to it whatsoever.
Not in this version. Everything is stored on the device it was typed on. If your devices back up to iCloud, each one's Postcard data is included in its own backup and restores with it.
Everything goes with it — trips, places, verdicts and notes. There is no server-side copy to restore from. If you are clearing space and want to keep a trip, do not delete the app.
It cannot be recovered. Deleting a trip removes every place on it and everything you wrote about them, which is why the app asks first. If the phone was backed up before the deletion, restoring that backup brings it back — along with everything else as it was at that moment.
Nobody. The app makes no network requests at all, collects nothing and has no account. See the privacy policy.
