Privacy Policy

The short version

Postcard collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, it contains no third-party SDKs, and it does not send anything anywhere — the app makes no network requests at all. Everything you type into it is stored on your own device and stays there.

This is worth being exact about for this app in particular. A trip planner knows where you are going, who with, and which weeks your home will be empty. That is precisely the sort of thing people are right to ask about, so the honest answer is that none of it ever leaves your iPhone — not to us, because there is no "us" to send it to, and not to anybody else.

What the app stores, and where

Postcard keeps a database inside its own container on your device. It holds only what you type in:

• Your trips — the destination, an optional name for the trip, the dates and any notes
• The places on them — the name, the kind of thing it is, the city or area, the day and time of day, and your notes
• Whether you have been somewhere and when you ticked it
• What you thought of it, and anything you wrote about it afterwards

There is no copy of any of this anywhere else. If your iPhone backs itself up to iCloud or to a computer, that backup includes Postcard's database in the same way it includes every other app's, and that copy is covered by Apple's privacy policy rather than this one. We have no access to it.

iCloud sync

Postcard does not sync. The current version stores everything locally and does not use iCloud, CloudKit, or any other service to move your trips between devices. If a future version offers sync, it will be something you switch on, and this policy will be updated before that version ships.

What the app does not do

• It does not make network requests, so nothing can be transmitted, logged or intercepted in transit.
• It does not use analytics, advertising identifiers, attribution or crash-reporting services.
• It contains no third-party SDKs of any kind.
• It does not track you across other apps or websites, and shares nothing with data brokers.
• It does not ask for an account, an email address, a password or a phone number.
• It does not read your location, contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, camera or Apple Health data, and requests no system permission for any of them — including while you are travelling.
• It does not send notifications.
• It contains no adverts and no purchases.

Children

Postcard is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. It collects nothing from children because it collects nothing from anyone. It has no chat, no messaging, no user profiles, no way for anybody to contact anybody, and no link out to anywhere that does.

Deleting your data

Deleting Postcard from your iPhone deletes everything it holds, immediately and completely. There is no account to close, no server-side copy to request the removal of, and nothing for us to delete on your behalf, because we never had it.

Removing a single trip inside the app deletes that trip and every place on it, including what you said about them. The app warns you before it does.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Postcard collects anything it does not collect today — which is nothing — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app's release notes.
