Privacy Policy

The short version

Upkeep does not collect your data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no account to create. Your log stays on your device. The app makes no network requests of any kind, so there is nothing to send anywhere and nobody to send it to.

What the app stores

Everything you enter in the app, and nothing else:

• The properties you add — the name you give them, what kind of place they are, the address and unit number if you fill those in, and any notes
• The work you log against them — what you did, the category, the date, the room, the cost and its currency, who did the work and their phone number, the length of any guarantee, how often the job needs doing again, and your notes
• The photos you attach to an entry

This is written to a private database inside the app’s own container on your device. It is not mirrored to iCloud, not backed up to any service of ours, and not readable by any other app. The developer of this app has no access to it and no way to obtain access.

What the app does not do

• It does not send your data to any server of ours, because there is not one — and it does not contact any other server either. The app performs no network requests at all.
• It does not use analytics, advertising identifiers or crash-reporting services.
• It does not contain any third-party code, SDKs or frameworks.
• It does not ask for an account, an email address or any personal details.
• It does not read your location, your contacts, your calendar or your Apple Health data.
• It does not share or sell anything, because nothing ever leaves your device to be shared or sold.

Photos and camera

Photos are chosen through the system photo picker, which runs outside the app. The app receives only the specific pictures you select — it is never granted access to your photo library and cannot browse it. That is why iOS does not ask you for photo permission when you add one.

The app declares a use for the camera, so that you can photograph work you have just finished. Any picture you take or select is downscaled and stored with that entry on your device.

Notifications

If you mark a job as needing doing again, Upkeep schedules a local notification for nine in the morning on the day it falls due. You are asked for permission at the moment you save that first recurring job, not at launch.

These are scheduled by your iPhone and delivered by your iPhone. No server is involved and the app is not registered for push notifications. You can revoke the permission in Settings › Notifications › Upkeep, and the app carries on working without it — jobs that are due still appear at the top of their property.

Phone numbers

Tapping the number stored against a job hands it to the iOS phone app to dial. The number is only ever the one you typed in yourself, it stays on the device with the rest of the entry, and nothing about the call comes back to the app.

Deleting your data

Deleting an entry removes it and its photos from the device. Deleting a property removes everything logged against it. Deleting Upkeep from your iPhone removes the whole log, permanently — there is no copy anywhere else, which is the flip side of nothing being uploaded.

Children

Upkeep is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Upkeep ever collects data, or ever gains the ability to sync or upload anything, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app’s release notes.
